Special Education is a service provided to students who need additional support to experience success with the state standards and general education curriculum. Students who receive this service have Individual Educational Programs (IEPs) or Section 504 plans which are legal documents detailing the educational support services that will be provided to students during the school day.

resource room and specialized tutorialResource Room and Specialized Tutorial are pull-out services during which Special Education teachers meet with a small group of students and act as a 'resource' to help them clarify their confusion about different content. This often involves pre-teaching and re-teaching content, focused strategy instruction, vocabulary practice, and practice on individual goals. It does not mean exclusively homework help. Instead, it will involve working on skills with material that will help students improve their ability and confidence to complete their homework independently.
